Wade Jeffries came to the Tennessee Small Business Development Center at Dyersburg State Community College with an opportunity to purchase a sole proprietorship: the Pig-N-Out BBQ & Grill in Dyersburg. Wade had been the general manager of the restaurant for eight years, since getting displaced from a job at a local manufacturing company.  

The previous owner of the Pig-N-Out approached Wade to purchase the sole proprietorship. Understanding the day-to-day operations and value of the business, and the importance of the jobs to the employees, Wade began the process of purchasing the business. He reached out to the TSBDC for assistance.

After hours of counseling from the TSBDC, Wade was able to secure a loan of $100,000 for the purchase of the business. After securing a long-term lease for the facility, he was able to purchase the Pig-N-Out. TSBDC also helped Wade develop of a business plan, financial projections and an employee application, and they helped in securing a long-term lease and getting organized.

Since opening , Pig-N-Out has increased sales by more than10%, made significant leasehold improvements , retained the existing employees and hired two more people.

The services provided by the TSBDC at Dyersburg State helped me take an opportunity and turn it into a viable business. The TSBDC was supportive and provided valuable information for me to make decisions for the future.
