Success Story for:
Stephen “Bubba” Miller of B. Miller Recycling
As a football player for the University of Tennessee, followed by 7 seasons in the NFL, Bubba Miller protected quarterbacks. Today as the owner of B. Miller Recycling, Bubba helps protect our environmental as he supports Middle Tennessee goal of landfill diversion. Simply put, B. Miller’s core business activity is the recycling and reuse of scrap iron, aluminum and copper. During 2013, B. Miller Recycling exported over 2.8 million dollars of scrap commodities to China, South Korea and India to be recycled in the manufacturing of new commercial and industrial products.
As the owner of B. Miller Recycling, Bubba has been a client at the Tennessee Small Business Development Center at Tennessee State University since 2009. During the past four years, counselors have worked closely with Bubba assisting with cash flow analysis, employee development and strategic planning.
Throughout 2013, we focused upon ensuring that B. Miller had the necessary capital to move forward and expand the business. Working together with Bubba, a 2.4 million dollar U.S. Small Business Administration guaranteed loan was secured. Having the much needed capital in hand, we are now counseling Bubba as he develops the action plans to expand his firm’s geographic reach and capitalize upon new market opportunities.
