Founded in 2009, Nanomechanics, Inc. is a closely held business, located in Oak Ridge.

The company manufactures measurement equipment and offers laboratory services to enable its customers to evaluate and understand the mechanical performance of their materials on the micro- and nano-scales.

The Tennessee Small Business Development Center (TSBDC) at Roane State Community College this client along with the University of Tennessee’s ExporTech program, serving as a coach to Nanomechanics, Inc. Monthly business counseling sessions by TSBDC complemented this accelerated business development program.

Through the ExporTech program, the company developed an international growth plan, received expert knowledge from guest speakers and support through the State of Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development (TNECD) and the U.S. Export Assistance Center (USEAC).

Nanomechanics, Inc. has expanded from direct-sales to a distributor/ representative model in Germany, India, Italy, Korea, Switzerland, Taiwan and the United Kingdom. The company implemented its strategy as developed during the ExporTech program, with assistance of the U.S. Department of Commerce Gold-Key program. Strong export sales are projected for the coming years. Sales overall have increased by 69% year-to-date as compared with last fiscal year.

As a result, three additional jobs (engineering, manufacturing and sales) were created and two more jobs will be added in January of 2015. These 5 jobs account for an employment growth of 38%.

Nanomechanics, Inc. also received an Export Achievement Award by USEAC in the fall of 2014.
