John Jerman of Office Furniture Warehouse
The seeds of success for John Jerman’s business were planted during his days as a student at the University of Tennessee. These seeds took root through the establishment of Office Furniture Warehouse (OFW). The business sprang to life in 2008 out of an old gas station and car lot. John and his company are passionate about the environment and through their work with refurbishing and reselling commercial office furniture and healthcare equipment contribute to the “reduce, reuse and recycle” philosophy of environmentally concise corporate America. OFW acquires liquidated assets from commercial office and healthcare facilities and refurbishes and resells these items for re-deployment and re-use. Services include: re-upholstery, furniture repair, storage, moving, furniture installation/re-configuration, space planning, inventory management, rental and leasing.
In 2009 OFW relocated to the Hamilton County Incubator and in spite of the challenging economic times quickly outgrew their space. In 2011 OFW moved again, this time into a 25,000 square foot facility. It was during this time that seeds of one day owning its’ own facility were planted. These seeds took root and in 2013 the vision became a reality. In August Office Furniture Warehouse obtained a 137,000 square foot facility. OFW occupies approximately 40,000 square feet with the remaining space being leased to other companies. Currently OFW is one of the largest pre-owned furniture dealerships in the southeast.
The Chattanooga TSBDC has been a constant and reliable business advisor of OFW. The staff has provided insight into resources for marketing, business planning, business development and access to capital. Most recently the TSBDC assisted OFW with the acquisition of its new facility.
