Nominated by the Tennessee Small Business Development Center of Dyersburg State Community College in the annual U.S. Small Business Administration “Business of the Year” awards, Vanee Simmons, owner of Eva Belle, Simply Boards and More, brought home the title of State Winner in the award category of Woman-Owned Business of the Year. From the moment her TSBDC Counselor met her, it was evident that she was already a success story in her own right and, after working with her for several months, she exemplified all that is possible when a client receives business coaching and assistance from a TSBDC.

From nearly losing her business in March 2013, after suffering a massive heart attack, to having her designs manufactured and shipped to more than 300 stores in more than 40 States today, Ms. Vanee Simmons is not afraid of perseverance. Reaching out to the TSBDC in late 2014 and continuing to meet with her TSBDC Counselor several times in 2015, together Simmons and the TSBDC developed a loan package for Eva Belle, Simply Boards and More, which facilitated a restructuring of business debt. In April 2015, Simmons was successful, with the help of the TSBDC, in obtaining a loan from Pathway Lending Group in the amount of $48,500 through the “Ready, Fund, Grow” Program with the TSBDC.  This loan enabled Simmons to consolidate business debt, which existed on three credit cards, making way for her to close two of those credit accounts and free-up working capital in her cash flow. This improved cash flow then enabled her to increase her designs and production ability.

With the help of the TSBDC, the future of my company has unlimited potential.
