Mr. Eduardo “Eddy” Zayas-Bazan, Jr. is the TSBDC at East Tennessee State University’s 2013 Success Story. The client (Eddy) received financial and business counseling assistance by the TSBDC team. Dr. Bob Justice, directed the effort with taxation and start-up counseling by business specialist Bob Graham and social media marketing counseling and training by business specialist Mark Bays. The TSBDC team was able to assist the client in the purchase of an existing pizza restaurant chain. The client came to the ETSU center originally on advice from a local lender. The lender needed a more detailed business plan and financial projections for the franchise restaurant which the client wanted to purchase.

The client returned to the TSBDC with a completed plan to purchase Greg’s Pizza Restaurants of Johnson City and Elizabethton. This year Greg’s Pizza celebrated its 50th anniversary (started in 1963 by Greg Campanello).  “Bob Justice counseled me on numerous business challenges and where to get assistance. He also advised me on which TSBDC classes would be most beneficial” said Eddy. The client took several TSBDC courses on social media marketing presented by Mark Bays. “I have advertised a special on Facebook every Monday to build sales on a traditionally slow sales day. I adopted this idea from the social media and Facebook classes Mr. Bays conducted” said Eddy. The client’s restaurant is experiencing record high sales.
