Success Story for:
Bill Gambill of Real Steel Fabricators
In 2004 after working in the Structural and Architectural Steel Fabrication Industry for over 20 years Bill Gambill realized his entrepreneurial dream starting-up Real Steel Fabricators with 3 full- time employees. Bill along with his son Martin who is general manager, have seen the business grow to 13 full-time employees with 2014 revenues exceeding $3.0 million.
Bill has been a client of the Tennessee Small Business Development Center (TSBDC) at Tennessee State University since 2009. During the past 5 years the TSBDC team has worked closely with Bill to help him grow his business. Services provided by TSBDC counselors have included cash flow analysis, government contract procurement and strategic planning.
During 2014, the TSBDC focused on ensuring that Bill had the necessary capital to move forward and expand the business. Working together with Bill the TSBDC helped Real Steel Fabricators secure a $ 1.5 million U. S. Small Business Administration guaranteed loan. With the much needed capital in hand Bill is currently building a new state of the art fabrication plant. This new facility will reduce current production costs by over 20 percent thereby enhancing Real Steel’s competitive posture. Moving forward the TSBDC is currently working with Bill to target hotel and hospitality construction opportunities in the Nashville Metroplex.
